The Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) has urged leaders and citizens to unite and to focus their energies on economic development following President Uhuru Kenyatta’s cabinet appointments.
CIPK Secretary General Sheikh Mohammed Khalifa encouraged Kenyans to focus more on nation building rather than concentrating on politics.
Sheikh Khalifa said Kenyans should desist from divisive politics as this hinders development in the country.
The Sheikh further said that all the regions in the country were represented in the cabinet appointments and urged leaders to address issues affecting the citizens.
He said now that the elections are over, leaders should unite and work together to improve the country’s economy.
“Now that the President has named his Cabinet, we should stop politicking and instead stand as Kenyans and focus on development.”
“I urge my fellow countrymen to embrace togetherness and focus on important issues like helping children from poor families go to school, engage in farming and industrialization, which will boost our economy,” he said.
Sheikh Khalifa said the President’s appointments were all-inclusive and thanked him for appointing four Muslims to the new Cabinet.
In the new Cabinet line-up former Mr Najib Balala will continue being the Tourism ministry, Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed was appointed the head of the Education ministry, Adam Mohammed was maintained in Industrialisation and Rashid Mohammed was nominated to the Sports and Heritage ministry.
