First Lady Margaret Kenyatta has urged Kenyans to support their county governments' bid to improve health services.

Mrs Kenyatta called on Kenyans to play their individual and collective roles effectively to enable the country achieve universal health care.

The first lady also called for concerted efforts among all stakeholders to help improve health services at the grassroots.

She further said that there is need to raise awareness and recognise children with disabilities as they are an integral part of the society.

“It is the duty of all Kenyans to ensure that every citizen accesses better health care. The government is committed to ensuring the delivery of quality and affordable health services to Kenyans. We urge Kenyans to support the government,” said Mrs Kenyatta.

She however noted that the government's and other stakeholders' support has increased people’s access to essential health care such as maternal and child services.

Mrs Kenyatta also thanked partners who had supported her Beyond Zero initiative which is geared towards eliminating maternal deaths.

“We call upon every stakeholder to play an active role in ensuring we win our war aimed at eliminating maternal deaths in a bid to have zero cases of mother to child HIV infections in the country,” said Mrs Kenyatta.
