A Catholic Church clergy has urged Kenyans to support victims of Garissa attack, both morally and financially.
Speaking on Friday at Karuri Trading Centre in Kiambaa during a Church service to mark Good Friday, Rev Samuel Mbuthia of Karuri Church said that Kenyans should express sympathy and mourn with those who lost their lived ones.
Mbuthia said that Kenyans are reeling under the gruesome and cruel Garissa attack and that they should support the victims morally and financially.
“We as Christians need to put ourselves into the shoes of the affected families and mourn with them at this difficulty times,” said Mbuthia.
He expressed his condolences to the bereaved families of the 147 students killed by Al Shabaab gunmen in Garissa University College Thursday morning.
He urged the government to tighten security by increasing the number of police officers especially in North Eastern which has borne the brunt of attacks by the insurgents
“The government has a responsibility to protect the vulnerable Kenyans,” said Mbuthia.
Mbuthia urged police to play their roles for the benefit of Kenyans and stop to be susceptible to bribery.
He urged the police to carry out their duties diligently and keep off cases of corruption which has been singled out as one of the ways the Al Shabaab militia have used to enter the country.
