Kenyans have been advised to feed on white meat and fruits to reduce cases of cancer caused by unhealthy eating spreading in the country.
Speaking in Nakuru town this Friday, Dr. James Mwangi from the University of Eldoret said that fruits, vegetables and white meat are healthy and have low fats and sodium which fuel the spreading of cancer and other life threatening diseases.
"I want to advise Kenyans to turn fruits and white meat in order to avoid these lifestyle diseases," said Mwangi.
He said red and processed meat is dangerous and could increase chances of cancer by 18-20 percent. Dr. Mwangi who was on cancer campaign awareness mission gave an example of the Asians in Rift Valley who consume a lot of greens.
"Look at our brothers the Asians who prefer greens unlike us Kenyans who eat meat everyday. They have a low risk of getting cancer," he said.
He further advised Kenyans to go for screening regularly to enable early detections.
