Elgeyo Marakwet senator aspirant Dr. David Kimaiyo has urged political aspirants to exercise sobriety and decorum when campaigning and avoid divisive politics during this electioneering period.
The former Inspector General of Police said it was imperative that leaders weigh their utterances when soliciting for votes so that the country remains united during and after the elections in August 8.
"I urge Kenyans irrespective of their political affiliations to vote in peace on August 8 and shun leaders who propagate politics of hate and incitement", Kimaiyo said as quoted by KNA.
He added that August polls will be competitive noting that leaders should put the interest of the country at heart as they go across the country campaigning for various elective posts.
He said the incumbent senator Kipchumba Murkomen should prepare for a bruising battle in the county's senatorial race.
