Cyber Crime units are investigating individuals operating Facebook and Twitter accounts in the name of Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government Major Gen. (Rtd.) Joseph Nkaissery.
In a statement to the media, the Interior Ministry urged social media users to be extremely careful when dealing with comments and messages thought to be from the Interior Ministry CS.
“One such pseudo account on Facebook is offering purported scholarships and bursaries to university students and asking for mobilization fee. The truth of the matter is that there is NO such program being run by the CS,” read the statement in part.
Kenyans should treat with extreme suspicion and immediately report to the authorities for appropriate action any communication emanating from other accounts other than the Cabinet Secretary’s official and verified accounts, @GenNkaisserry for Twitter and CS’s Whatsapp number 0719777719," read the statement.
