A state appointment is viewed as the most lucrative offers one can ever get in life. Many would never look back when such an offer is placed on their table.But not for these four Kenyans who are on record rejecting nomination to plum Government jobs by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Here are some of the few Kenyans who have turned down great job offers by head of state.
1.Chris Okemo
In 2015, former Cabinet Minister Chris Okemo in Moi's regime a declined his appointment as the Chairman of Kenya Seed Company.
Okemo argued that he was facing extradition charges and had to clear his name before taking up any public appointment.At the time, Jersey Island was seeking to haveOkemo extradited over money laundering allegations.
2.Mr. Abdikadir Mohammed
He served as legal adviser during retired President Kibaki tenure and President Kenyatta's first term.
He was nominated to be Kenya’s ambassador to South Korea but he politely declined the offer.Though he never made his reasons public, close sources divulged that he did so on personal grounds which included concern for his young family, career mismatch fears and his passion for the private sector.
3.Engineer John Okuna Ogango is the latest nominee to reject an ambassadorial offer by President Kenyatta.Ogango declined to be vetted by the parliamentary committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence, citing personal reasons.He is a former Director-General of the KenyaRural Roads Authority.
