The ruling Jubilee Party is planning to pass a legislation aimed at ensuring Kenyans are protected during election days.

Party's Chief Whip at the National Assembly Mumias East Member of Parliament Benjamin Washiali says following the controversies and violence that were witnessed in some parts of the country during this year's repeat Presidential election, Kenyans have started fearing elections.

The MP, however, said, the law, if passed will make Kenyans approach elections with confidence.

Speaking in Eldoret on Monday, Washiali said the Jubilee party will take advantage of its numerical strength in Parliament to pass the legislation.

“From the experience of the just concluded elections, Kenyans are fearful of the 2022 general elections and as legislators, we want to make sure that we have laws that will make Kenyans approach elections with confidence,” said the MP.

“Kenyans lost properties and even lives and as leaders, we cannot allow this to continue especially when we have a chance to correct this. I want to assure Kenyans that I will rally my colleagues from both sides of the houses to make sure we make laws that will make Kenyans not fear elections any other time,” he added.
