The contest was held at the Stade Octobre in Bizerte, Tunisia.

A balanced first half ended goalless despite Kenya showing more intent to win the match despite the fact that they had, together with their opponents, been eliminated already.

The match was of no use to stars but coach Jacob Ghost Mulee took his troops to the turf to make sure that they finish on a high.

After the restart, it took the boys only five minutes to find the back of the net when Emmanuel Ake escaped his marker to beat the goalie with a well-taken effort from close range.

A young and impressive Dennis Oliech then doubled Kenya’s advantage in the 64th minute after the first break following Burkina Faso’s foiled attacking move.

Mike Baraza would then add a third in the 83rd minute to wrap up what remains to be Kenya’s most memorable match at a major tournament as well as the Africa Nations Cup.

Unfortunately, the demolition of Burkina Faso will be Kenya’s last appearance at the tournament as 14 years on, the wait still goes on.

The 2004 edition was won by hosts Tunisia.
