Team Kenya head coach for the IAAF World Cross Country in Kampala is confident of excellent performance ahead of the championships this Sunday.

Coach Juma Ndiwa exuded confidence that the squad to Uganda is the best team ever in the history of Kenya’s cross country participation.

“We have had a fruitful training and the team is ready to represent Kenya. I a m confident that we have given them the right skills and training,” Ndiwa said over the phone as the team wound up their training.

They are set to leave Kenya for Uganda tomorrow and the cross country will be held at Kololo independence grounds on Sunday.

All eyes will be on Kenya as they will be extending their dominance in athletics but their rivals Ethiopia will also be eying a superlative show.

Havingtrained at Kigari on the slopes of Mt.Kenya, a place considered the best for cross country training, Ndiwa lauded the team’s cooperation.

“I liked the unity the athletes showed during the training and that proved they are ready for the better performance,” he said.

Kenya will be seeking to reclaim its overall title since the year 2013 in which Ethiopia has dominated.

This time it will consist of the mixed relay where two men and women will team up to form a team and the former world junior cross country champion Asbel Kiprop of anchoring the relay team.

Defending champions Geoffrey Kamworor and Agnes Tirop are the teams hopes for glory.
