Goalkeeper
Mahmoud Abbas.
Abbas will be remembered as the greatest keeper Kenya ever had. Helping AFC, then Abaluhya FC clinch three successive Cecafa titles, he was also a mainstay in the Harambee Stars lineup.
He is also remembered for helping the national team win successive Cecafa in his time. He was a specialist in saving penalties.
Defender
Bobby Ogolla.
He famously wore the number 4 jersey. The now turned coach played for Gor Mahia, where he helped them to numerous trophies. He also played for the national team, where he performed exceptionally well.
Midfielder
Victor Wanyama
The younger brother of Mcdonald Mariga is the national team captain, taking the reigns from long-serving Dennis Oliech. He plays for English side Tottenham Hotspurs and is one of the most influential midfielders that the country has produced.
Winger
Joe Kadenge
Kadenge is regarded as the best footballer Kenya ever produced. His influence on the pitch was endearing to many Kenyans, leading to the phrase ‘Kadenge na mpira’, which became synonymous with the now retired player and coach.
Striker
Denis Oliech.
Dennis the ‘Menace’, as he was commonly referred to by Kenyans will be fondly remembered by many after striking in the dying minutes against Cape Verde to send Kenya to the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations.
Oliech would captain Harambee Stars and perform at the highest levels. Blessed with lightening pace and a good physique, Oliech was a true menace during his playing days.
