The Head of State is the most followed politician in the country. He has 3.5 million followers on Facebook and 3.06 million followers on Twitter. In the run-up to the August polls, the President engaged Kenyans in a live Facebook chat, where he answered questions from viewers on various subjects.
2. Deputy President William Ruto
Deputy President William Ruto also enjoys a huge following on social media. The DP has 1.07 million Facebook followers and 1.84 million followers on Twitter. Ruto updates his social media on a regular basis, sometimes even taking time to share jokes.
3. Opposition chief Raila Odinga
NASA leader Raila Odinga has 1.79 million followers on Twitter and 1.2 million Facebook followers. Raila made good use of his huge following on Facebook during the campaign period by posting live videos of the different rallies he held.
4. Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has 423,000 followers on Twitter and 1.3 million Facebook followers. The county boss regularly posts photos and videos of ongoing county projects. He recently asked his Facebook followers to help in picking a suitable deputy governor following the resignation of Polycarp Igathe. He shared a list of 22 individuals and asked his followers to help him pick the best candidate.
5. Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho
Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho keeps residents informed about various county projects and activities with the regular posts he makes. The Sultan, as he is popularly known, has 1.008 followers on Facebook and 418,000 Twitter followers.
