Murang'a County Senator Irungu Kang'ata has hailed the just concluded repeat presidential election as 'fantastic'.
Kang'ata praised the electoral commission for what he described as better organisation of the poll conducted on Thursday 26, 2017.
"What we have just witnessed can be termed as the best in Africa. Everything from voting, transmission and tallying was done perfectly and according to the laws of the land. Chebukati (IEBC chairman) and his team did a commendable job," Kang'ata said on Tuesday.
In the election which final results were announced on Monday, Jubilee's President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto were declared the winners.
The electoral agency boss declared Uhuru the president-elect after polling 7,483,895 votes out of the 7,616,217 votes cast (38.84 percent turn out).
While announcing the results, Chebukati gave the election a clean bill of health.
"I am satisfied that we were able to meet these conditions I had set to deliver what to us, and, I believe, to observers, was a free, fair and credible election," he stated.
The Opposition alliance, however, has described the process a charade.
"Jubilee will for sure not get away with this charade of colluding with IEBC to steal power in the eyes of every Kenyan," said Norman Magaya, NASA CEO.
