Central Organisation of Trade Union (Cotu) secretary general Francis Atwoli has called on Kenyans to adopt a rotational presidency system.
Atwoli said communities have felt shortchanged since independence with a feeling that the presidency is a reserve of a single community.
"Since independence, apart from that duration of Moi, other communities have felt like the presidency is a reserve of a certain community," he said.
Kenya has had four presidents, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, Daniel Moi, Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta.Uhuru Kenyatta is the son of 1st President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
He is currently facing off with fierce Opposition leader Raila Odinga, as he (Uhuru) runs for a second term in office.
The Kenyan constitution, which was enacted in 2010, allows the President to serve for two terms only.
Raila, the son of Kenya's first Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, has been running for the top seat unsuccessfuly since 1997.
