President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on the Kiambu youths to shun alcoholism and intensify the fight against the killer unwanted drinks.
Speaking in Ruiru on Friday, the President said that the women in Central Kenya have been facing challenges in taking up family responsibilities as the men had turned to alcohol leaving the responsibilities to the women.
He added that his directive to fight illicit liquor was not a four-day affair as he will not let any leader relent as long as the brews are still on the market and youths consuming them.
“These people should be arrested and prosecuted as the brews are illegal and are taking over our society. The alcohol they make has been killing our generation and we have to go ahead with the fight. Leave no stone unturned,” Kenyatta said.
He cautioned the commissioners and local administrators that they are answerable now that they are working with the MPs to ensure they seize the brews and added that any rogue and corrupt official should face the arm of the law immediately.
Kenyatta called on the Kiambu leadership to unite in the fight if uniting politically has been hard for them. He called on the public to judge the leaders according to the work they have done and not political superiority.
