Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i had a happy ending in 2016 following President Uhuru Kenyatta’s positive node to examination management.
Matiang’i, who was moved from ICT early 2016, oversaw smooth national examination in which no cheating cases was detected.
In his New Year address on Saturday, Uhuru lauded the ministry of education for promoting honesty and transparency in national examinations.
“We have ensured most honest national examinations in many years. Not just to be strict but to ensure our young people’s efforts are reflected in their results,” Uhuru said.
“That those who can afford to cheat in exams do not rob opportunities from those who are hardworking and honest,” added Uhuru insisting that more has to be done to ensure consistency in future examinations.
Matiang’i released Kenya Certificate for Secondary Education last week in which former academic giants performed badly.
