A new secret report indicates the President Uhuru Kenyatta will have to do extra hard to score a sizeable number of votes in a number of swing counties across the country.
The report done by National Intelligence Agency reveals that Kenyatta is gradually losing support in a number of counties that propelled him to State House.
A source privy to NIS report says Kenyatta is set to launch vicious campaigns in the counties under question to avoid falling below constitutional threshold should he win in August.
“I can assure you that all is not well especially I marginalized counties where he scored well in 2013. He is gradually losing support to the opposition,” said the source.
“He has launched a serious campaign and would see him traversing the counties. It won’t be business as usual in the coming weeks.”
Among the counties in question include Narok, Kajiado, Samburu, Isiolo, Marsabit, Mandera, Garissa and Laikipia.
NAS on their part has campaigned in Kajiado and Narok and flag bearer Raila Odinga made two trips to each of the counties.
