Orange Democratic Movement Party leader Raila Odinga has challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to accord him respect.
Speaking on Tuesday at Orange House when he met with delegates from the Masaai community, the opposition leader urged the head of state to address him with decorum and not as he would to his child.
“Ati sasa anasomea Raila; mimi si mtoto wake. Ongea kwa njia ya utaratibu (He is now dressing down Raila; I’m not his child. Talk in a polite manner),” Odinga said.
The opposition chief's call comes just a day after President Kenyatta launched a scathing attack on Odinga, calling upon the opposition leader to quit politics on grounds of his age.
“Maybe it is his age, and that is why we are asking him to retire now that he is an old man,” President Kenyatta said on Monday in a rally during his Central Kenya tour.
