A tough talking Siaya Senator James Orengo has threatened to sue President Uhuru Kenyatta for what he terms as ‘witch hunting’ of Governor Hassan Joho.
Joho is being investigated by several agencies among them CID, KRA and EACC after Kenyatta promised to ‘teach’ him a lesson following their escalating political differences.
And on Sunday at Tononoka, the renowned attorney warned that he would be forced to sue Kenyatta over his continued ‘manhandling’ of the ODM Deputy leader.
“I am watching keenly on what Uhuru is doing and he should be ready to face me in court should he continue intimidating an innocent man,” said Orengo amid cheers from a mammoth crowd.
The one time lawyer of President Kenyatta added: “we are living under the new dispensation of 2010 constitution and it is wrong to use your powers to intimidate your political opponents. Let him be warned.”
Among things the Mombasa governor is being probed include forgery of academic certificates, tax evasion and corruption.
He is a close ally of opposition leader Raila Odinga, who is being viewed as Kenyatta’s headache ahead of August elections.
