A worried President Uhuru Kenyatta has reportedly tasked two senior officials to reach Meru Governor Peter Munya and convince him to attend a rally scheduled in a fortnight at Meru grounds.

Munya, fierce critics of Jubilee administration, has already pronounced his intentions to run in the 2022 presidential race, a move that has caused jitters within Kenyatta’s group.

The rebellious Mt. Kenya governor has also rebranded PNU party, which he is seeking reelection with and has since received a host of defectors in recent weeks.

A source privy to State House operatives reveals that NIS report indicate that Munya would still win his seat by a 47 percent contrary to his challenger Kiraitu Murungi, who would scoop 24 percent.

“The president is worried and he has sent emissaries. NIS report indicates that Odinga could penetrate the populous Muru region due to their concerns particularly on Miraa,” said the source.

“He has tasked two state house officials to reach the Governor and bring him on board,” said the source.

Those tasked to bring the Council of Governor’s Chair on board are Nancy Gitau and Kamotho Waiganjo. The writer could however not independently verify the chain of events in t. Kenya politics.
