Kenyatta University Students Association has refuted claims that wrangles over the election of new officials were the main cause of students unrest which resulted in the indefinite closure of the University.The officials said that the new act was followed in electing the new officials.Addressing media at the university’s main entrance, the newly elected KUSA chair Wycliff Kipsang said that the unrest was precipitated by the ongoing lecturer’s strike.“A section of the students who lost in the election took advantage of the strike and started chaos forcing the management to call for immediate closure.” Said Kipsang.“I will work towards finding a solution to the issues affecting the student’s welfare, students from other universities are also affected by the ongoing strike, “ he added.The outgoing Kenyatta University President Sam Were called on the faction of students who were defeated in the just concluded student's election for a consultative meeting to solve problems affecting the students.
