Kenyatta University students have issued a warning to the UASU officials against disrupting activities at the campus. This is following an agreement by the Kenyatta University lecturers to return to work on Monday.
The university's student leaders have urged colleagues to report back to school.
Just a few days ago the University Academic Staff Union (UASU) reassured their members that the strike is still on and it will not stop until the 2017-2021 Collective Bargaining Agreement is settled.
“We strongly urge UASU officials to continue picketing and striking in their own style but not to interrupt learning. It’s very disappointing that some union officials try to play kid politics of circulating messages telling students not to resume. It’s not the role of UASU to call students to class, it is only their role to call off the strike. They should not confuse calling off and calling on,” Wyclife Kipsang who is the Kenyatta University Students Association (KUSA) president said.
While addressing the media, the students expressed their disappointment over the strike and reiterated that no force should interfere with their studies.
So far it is only students from Kenyatta University, University of Nairobi, Multimedia University and Technical University of Kenya who have been called to report back to school.
