Deputy President William Ruto has once again reiterated that there was nothing like a rift between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking on Tuesday during a funeral service they attended together with President Kenyatta, Ruto said Kenyans should stand behind Kenyatta as he sets up his government.
There has been a political debate since Friday, when Kenyatta announced the first batch of his cabinet secretary, with many saying the two had disagreed on the names.
However, Ruto said they are at best working conditions with his boss, and Kenyans should let him do his work as clearly set out in the constitution.
“We should give President Kenyatta time to appoint his cabinet secretaries and to assembly an able government without interfering,” he said.
Reports about DPs unsatisfactory status over the appointment was compounded by lack of show when Kenyatta announced the first list on Friday.
Ruto further says he has no powers to influence Kenyatta’s choice of secretaries and will support whoever his boss settles on.
“There is no one with the permission to supervise the president on his work that he was given constitutionally by the people,” he added.
“What Kenyans and we as leaders are waiting for is for you to give us men and women focused and committed, men of integrity,”
