Speaking on Friday to HiviSasa.com from Kianyabao in West Mugirango, area residents thanked Kera officials for reconstructing Kianyabao-Makairo road that was previously closed due to its poor condition.

They also expressed their satisfaction for being involved in the exercise by the county government in expanding feeder roads it the area since many youths have benefited from the exercise.

“As locals in this area, we are very happy with the good work that has been done by the county government and Kera. They have opened several roads in the region, some of which were impassable,” said Johnson Moriasi.

“They have also involved locals, especially youths without discrimination. Some of the youths have immensely benefited from the exercise since they have been doing ground work like clearing trenches during construction,” added Morris Makori.

They, however, called upon the county government to employ youths who will be mandated to maintain the road during rainy seasons.

“It is worth remembering that these roads should be kept under maintenance every time especially during rainy seasons. The county should employ youths on a temporary basis to maintain the roads,” Mr Makori added.
