This comes after thousands of supporters allied to the MP paralysed operations for the better part of Thursday as they called for Bosire's release.

And now a group of traders have joined calls to have Mr Bosire released to protect their businesses which they said were at risk.

“As Keroka traders, we want to urge the President to intervene and have Mr Bosire and his colleagues released because it’s becoming detrimental to our businesses. We have already incurred a lot of losses today and the situation might even escalate if he isn’t released in the near future,” said Obed Makori who spoke on their behalf.

“We have heard rumours that the protests could intensify from Friday and this may impact negatively on our businesses and the economy of the nation at large. The President has that power to halt these cases and preach peace and integration,” he added.

They said heavy presence of police in the town would not be helpful since they were likely to ‘scare’ customers away from the business hub.

“This is one of the towns where we earn our livelihood. Deploying police officers would not help because many people still fear them. We only want the President to intervene and have Mr Bosire released to ease tension in our town,” he added.
