Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) announced new kerosene price reviews.This comes after another review which was effected on June 14 where Kerosene was increased by Sh3.82, Super Sh1.93 and Diesel Sh3.34 per litre.

The commission said they had not factored in Sh7.205 increase during their previous announcement.

Poor households who are major Kerosene consumers will now have to pay Sh10 more from last month's prices.

Kerosene now retails at Sh55.3 in Mombasa, Sh58.04 in Nairobi, Sh58.93 in Nakuru and Sh60 in Eldoret and Kisumu.

In Nairobi diesel details at Sh73.71 and Super Petrol at Sh86.17 a litre.

In 2011, the government scrapped the excise duty on Kerosene in an attempt to cushion low-income Kenyans against high prices but this was reversed last week after 2016/2017 budget was read by Finance Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich.
