Kesses Member of Parliament Dr. Swarup Mishra has distributed bursary worth Sh4.5 million to needy and bright secondary students in his constituency.
Mishra said the process of identifying the needy students to be awarded bursaries was done on merit.
"We based on the counter social economic performance of parents, students behaviors, parenthood among others," said the MP after distributing cheques to secondary school principals in Cheptiret.
"As your MP, I am determined to invest majorly in education as it yields skilled and competent products who are the cornerstone of our development. I will ensure students get quality and not quantity education with the best comfort zone," he added.
Some of the secondary schools that benefited on the same include Hill School, Bindura, Chagaiya, Ndungula among others.
"The money that we have distributed was the amount that was left during the previous regime that is the 2017-2018 financial year. We will start distributing the 2018-2019 financial year bursaries in the next two weeks," added the Jubilee MP.
He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that every school in his constituency has electricity.
"In the next six months, I will ensure that no school in my constituency has no electricity," added the Kesses MP.
