As the Form One selection for candidates who sat for this year's Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) begins, about 85 candidates in Kesses sub-county, Uasin Gishu, will be eagerly waiting to see which national school they will be joining.
This is after the 85 scored over 400 marks in the recently released KCPE results.
According to the Kesses Sub-county director of Education Alice Sitienei, the majority of the candidates who scored over 400 marks are from private schools.
"We are proud of our pupils who worked hard and excelled in the national exams. All we are hoping is that the 85 candidates who scored over 400 marks in this sub-county will be selected to join top national schools across the country," Sitienei said in Eldoret, Sunday.
While releasing the KCPE results, Education Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i said all candidates who scored 400 marks and above will be admitted to national schools irrespective of whether they sat their exams in private or public schools.
Of the 993,718 candidates who sat for the KCPE, 9,848 scored more than 401 marks and will be admitted to 105 national schools across the country.
Selection for candidates joining national schools begins Monday and on Friday, the exercise to pick candidates joining extra-county schools will start. The form one selection exercise is expected to be complete by December 12.
