Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter and his Kapseret counterpart Oscar Sudi have maintained that they are fully in Jubilee and will continue supporting the Deputy President.
The legislators on Thursday reiterated their support for Ruto saying they will stand firm behind him and campaign for him to ascend to the Presidency in 2022.
The duo came to the defense of the Deputy President over remarks by Kiambu Governor William Kabogo that Mt Kenya residents will not automatically vote for Ruto after President Uhuru Kenyatta retires.
Speaking in Cheptiret during the burial of Wilson Sinyei, the legislators said the Deputy President does not need Kabogo’s support to clinch the Presidency in 2022.
Keter said Ruto will not only seek support from Central Kenya but from all regions across the country and is already making inroads and initiating development projects across the country.
“When that time comes, the Deputy President will not only seek Mt Kenya votes, he will campaign and seek support from all Kenyans and therefore Kabogo’s sentiments are useless,” said Keter.
The legislator said the Rift backed President Kenyatta in 2013 and will still back him in 2017 and urge Mt Kenya residents not take the support for granted.
On his part, Sudi said the remarks by the Kiambu Governor were divisive and will not be taken lightly by Rift Valley residents.
He said the Jubilee coalition was a union meant to unite Kenyans and such careless utterances are likely to polarize the country.
