Nasa coalition has set Monday next week as a tentative date for a major public gathering to be held this year. it is a new year and many Kenyans might not know it is the opposition leader Raila Odinga's birthday month.
Mr. Odinga was born on January 7, 1945 in Maseno area. Just after spending a good time with his grand children during the festive season, his itinerary is already packed with several issues to attend to, a few days to his 73rd birthday. He is set to get neck to neck with President Kenyatta's regime and insists he will resume mass protests this month.His first rally will be held in Kakamega.
The ODM party 's spokesman Dennis Onyango has said the dates set for the maiden rally for this year were only tentative pending a final decision to be made by the team's steering committee on the exact day the rally would be held.
Mr. Odinga alongside the other Nasa principals is during the rally to unveil a parallel government comprising of a 'cabinet' as so as to pile pressure on president Kenyatta.
"What you hear about Kakamega is tentative. The final decision shall be made by the NASA steering committee. What I know is that he (Raila) will be back in Nairobi on Wednesday to meet the other principals and will attend the burial of Prof Calestous Juma in Busia over the weekend.It is after this that details for the rally will be set,” Mr. Onyango said on phone.
The coalition's steering committee has remained silent on the program they are working on but details emerging show that the leadership of the coalition was set to take oath in the event President Kenyatta declines to give room for talks which they insist have to be centered on electoral justice.
The late Prof Calestous Juma's body arrived in the country on December 31,2017 ahead o his burial set fot January 6,2017 in Busia County.
The late professor'was a renowned Harvard University scholar.
