At least four roads in the Central Business District (CBD) will be closed to motorists and other users for the delegates attending the 14th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade (UNCTAD).

The international event will be held from Sunday to Friday at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.

Nairobi Police Commander Japheth Koome said that the roads to be closed include Parliament Road, City Hall Way, Taifa Road and Harambee Avenue.

“The roads will only be used by delegates who have stickers. Other motorists will be directed by officers on the ground and we urge for co-operation,” Mr Koome said.

The event is expected to bring together Heads of State and Government, ministers and other prominent players from the business world, civil society and academia to tackle global trade and economic issues.

The week-long conference will feature ministerial debates, high-level round tables, a World Investment forum and a Civil Society forum.

The city has previously hosted other similar high-level forums including the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) and in August, it is expected to also host the Tokyo International Conference of Africa’s Development (TICAD).
