Last week’s handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga that has since brought the two warring leaders together seem to have caused ripples in both camps.
NASA co-principals Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Moses Wetangula lamented that they were not involved in the agreement deal, forcing the coalition to hold a crisis meeting on Monday.
However, it is not only in the opposition camp that things are going south, with reports indicating that a similar situation has engulfed the ruling Jubilee Party.
Some leaders are said to be uncomfortable with the latest developments, with particularly those allied to Deputy President William Ruto unhappy.
Speaking on Saturday, National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale, a key ally of the DP was categorical that NASA was still in the opposition and not in government.
"Let us make sure that on matters of national interest, we speak and we read from the same page. But they [NASA] act as the Official Opposition, we (Jubilee) act as the ruling party,” Duale said.On Sunday,
Kithure Kindiki, who spoke during a church service, was also vocal on the same, saying they know ‘what Raila is capable of’.
“Raila is like a camel that told a house owner to allow it to shelter only its head from the rains, only to ask for his hump to be allowed in too,” said Kindiki.
Odinga and Kenyatta have agreed to put their differences aside and work together in ensuring they bring unity and peace to Kenyans.
