A Kikuyu song titled 'Ikamba' by one Isaiah and Waharaka has been banned by the Kenya Film and Classification Board CEO Ezekiel Mutua.
The song that went viral on Sunday according to Mutua is "a primitive piece of art that contravenes the provisions of Article 33 of the Constitution on Freedom of Expression and amounts to incitement, violence and hate speech".
Mutua has further added that the song should be pulled down from youtube and the artists and the producer arrested for going against the Kenya Film and Classification Board guidelines.
On the video, the artists portray their anger and dissatisfaction with the recent ordeal that saw a lorry belonging to a businessman from Limuru burned for allegedly ferrying charcoal from Kitui County.
It seems the fury has driven them to criticize Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu for allegedly supervising the burning of the lorry and the entire Kamba community.
On his tweet, Mutua condemned the song saying it's a mockery of the entire Kamba community and is likely to cause violence.
He further urged the NCIC to quickly follow up on the matter and take action.
Machakos Senator Mutula Kilonzo has also highly condemned the song and said he would push to ensure culprits are arrested.
The song has caused an uproar on social media and it seems many are not happy with the two for generalizing an entire community whereas it's only one person is at fault.
