The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has launched investigations on illegal websites spreading radicalisation and promoting child pornography.
This follows the recent revelations, over the existing of a suicide game known as the Blue Whale Challenge.
KFCB banned the game, recently, following reports that a 16-year-old teenager committed suicide, in Kamukunji, Nairobi, after playing the game, whose last winner stage, is killing oneself.Addressing the press during an event to announce measures that the Board has taken to protect children online, KFCB Chief Executive Officer Dr Ezekiel Mutua said the Blue Whale Challenge was harmful to teenagers.He warned anyone found spreading or sending the game online or through social media, would be dealt with, accordingly.“We would like to confirm although the game is not in the conventional format of computer games, which constitute downloading, installing and then playing, Blue Whale can be accessed by children through the Internet,'' Mutua said in Nairobi, Friday.He asked parents to monitor their children and work with teachers and religious leaders to spread a message over the effects of the online game.Reports indicate over 119 teenagers worldwide, have committed suicide, after playing the game.
