Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) Chief Executive Officer Ezekiel Mutua has put on notice producers, organisers and filmmakers of illicit content and material saying that they will be cracked down.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Ukambani professionals meeting in Machakos on Saturday, Mutua said that the Film Board has put in place proper measures to nail down on producers on illicit content.
He said that stern action will be taken against individuals engaging in production of illicit materials.
“We are working hard to tame people who have for years been producing illicit content which is harmful to the youthful generation,” he said.
Mutua added that the Board will not tolerate parties that portray immorality.
He said that the youthful generation was being exposed to illicit content that corrupts their mind and exposes them to drug abuse and radicalisation. Mutua said that the advancement of internet and social media has largely contributed to production and distribution of harmful content. He said the Board together with other government agencies are deliberating on rules that will govern the internet and social media.
Mutua urged Kenyans to work with the Board and report people they suspect are engaging in production of illicit material.
The CEO also asked parents to mentor their children in the right way to curb cases of immorality.
Two weeks ago the KFCB and the police banned a controversial sex part dubbed ‘PROJECT X’ that was to take place in Kileleshwa Nairobi.
The board and the police linked the much-popularised party to immorality, drugs and radicalisation.
The PROJECT X party elicited harsh reactions from leaders, clergymen and Kenyans at large with calls to have the organizers arrested and prosecuted.
