The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has warned film makers operating in the North Rift region without licenses.

The Board's North Rift regional head Emmanuel Mbutu said they have been receiving reports that some  film makers were engaging in filming activities without licenses from the Board.

He said both local and foreign film makers had been spotted in the region and should follow the right procedures before filming,

“I want to warn both loca and foreign film makers that are operating in the region without clearance from the board that they will face prosectution,” Mbutu said, Thursday.

“We have gotten reports that some were in the region and we are not aware of what they are filming. The law protects filming and if one intends to do so, then he should obtain a license,” he added.

Mbutu said the office had increased surveillance by sending Film Compliance officers across Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia, West Pokot, Nandi, Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet and Turkana Counties for monitoring.

“We are also working closely with the police to apprehend and prosecute offenders and charge them for contravening Film and Stage Plays Act CAP 222 Laws of Kenya,” he added.
