Kenya film classification board, KFCB's ban on advertisements of alcohol, condoms and those with "sexual innuendos" from 5pm to 10pm is ridiculous because it is not in the board's mandate to regulate commercial advertisements.
KFCB's role is restricted to films and stage plays. After making the announcement on the ban, KFCB chief executive officer Mr Ezekiel Mutua received many negative comments, some bordering on insults.
Newspaper columnists and commentators wrote scathing remarks directed at Mr Mutua.
Well, it is true the ban was unconstitutional but is it not true that our young children are being fed with so much sexual content? I think the ban, even if it will be uplifted, should act as a wake-up call to those who feed the young minds with sexually explicit contents, starting with music videos!
There is too much nudity in our music videos especially hip hop, bongo and R'n'B genres.
We do not want our children to grow up thinking that kissing, sensual touching and engaging in sex is just right.
