The Kenya Forest Service has registered tremendous progress since the ban on logging was announced.
According to a report released by KFS on the 53rd day since the logging ban was announced, at least 393 people have been arrested for contravening the logging ban.
Speaking in Nakuru, KFS acting commandant Wilson Leboo said that the 393 people arrested are facing ongoing cases in court while with some cases having been concluded.
Leboo said that 66 tonnes of timber have so far been confiscated which includes 361 assorted timber types.
During the operations, KFS announced that it has already impounded 6242 bags of charcoal and 2384 cedar posts which are being held at various KFS posts.
In the 53 days of the ban KFS has also impounded 6 power saws, 104 motor vehicles and 40 motorbikes which were being used to transport illegal charcoal, wood or timber.
One hundred and three people have been as well arrested for encroaching on forest land.
