Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has claimed that the gods have subjected their rage on President Uhuru Kenyatta for ignoring touching issues in the country and backing CS Amina Mohamed to be the AU chairperson.
Speaking during NTV's AMLive show on Tuesday, Khalwale said that despite his support for Amina's bid for the AU top post, it was misplaced to ignore the ravaging hunger in the country.
"I strongly believe in the spiritual powers in the outcome of events. The fact that President Uhuru and his deputy (WilliamRuto) pushed so hard for Amina to become the AU chair, that offended the gods," he said.
"They were doing this using public funds while the same funds were needed to address the issues of the Kenyans dying from hunger and at the same time 68 soldiers are lying dead," he added.
The vocal senator insisted that the money used to lobby for the AU position could have been used to solve Kenya's current problems.
"The spirit of the dead and those of the gods were unhappy because of using of public money, rumored to be about Sh4.5 million," he said.
Amina lost to Chad’s Moussa Mahamat. Mahamat beat CS Amina by 12 votes after garnering 38 votes against Amina’s 26 following seven rounds of voting in Addis Ababa on Monday.
