Former Kakamega senator Bonny Khalwale has commended President Uhuru Kenyatta on his latest call to reclaim land illegally acquired.

On Thursday, the president called for the reclaim of all National Youth Service (NYS) land irregularly and illegally acquired.

“Land previously owned by NYS will be returned to the institution for active programmes that will help the youth in employment. The State will put all resources at its disposal to ensure that NYS succeeds in this,” reiterated President Kenyatta as quoted by the Daily Nation.

In a tweet on Friday, Khalwale congratulated the president for pressing the right button. He however wants the Ndungu Commission report of 2005 to be implemented citing that there should not be selective justice in reclaiming illegally acquired land in the country.

"Mr President, now u have pressed the right button! But to be taken seriously, go the full hog & implement the entire 2005 Report of the Inquiry of the Ndungu Commission into the Illegal & Irregular Allocation of Public Land in Kenya. No selective justice!" tweeted Khalwale.

The president's call has been seen to have placed National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka at a hard spot as he is set to lose 500 acres of land, as reported by the Daily Nation, allegedly belonging to NYS.

Earlier in 2016, Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua had alleged that Kalonzo used his position as the vice-president to acquire the said land, claims Kalonzo has denied.
