Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale now says that leaders from both sides of the political divide --Jubilee and Cord --are unable to fight corruption in the country.
The Senator who was speaking during Citizen TV's Power Breakfast show said the political class was just interested in protecting their interests and not saving the country from corruption.
"I am sorry to say this to Kenyans. The current generation of leaders in both Cord and Jubilee are not going to do anything about corruption," he said.
"What they will continually do is to defend the political interest of their sides," he added.
He said the allegations facing Kalonzo Musyoka should not be made a Cord issue, adding that Kalonzo should be left to answer to them as an individual.
"For example, these allegations that Kalonzo has grabbed land, you will find some members of Cord foolishly defending him," he said
The Kakamega County 2017 gubernatorial hopefulalso bashed a section of Jubilee legislators who on Wednesday said that ODM leader Raila Odinga had no moral right to lecture President Uhuru Kenyatta, saying he had a personal interest in the matter.
Khalwale said the MPs should defend the people of Kenya and not the President.
"There is an item in the media today where Raila has said President Uhuru Kenyatta was wrong to have lowered the amount due to host communities from 10 per cent to 5 per cent in Petroleum Bill that we passed in Parliament. Jubilee leaders have now come out and said that he is wrong because he has an interest in the petroleum industry. Surely, were these people elected to defend Kenyans or defend the President," he said.
