Ford Kenya deputy party leader, Kakamega County governor hopeful Boni Khalwale has slammed politicians from the Mt Kenya region, after calls that Nasa presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, should resign from active politics.Leaders allied to President Uhuru Kenyattaa, including the president and his Deputy, William Ruto have occassionaly been asking the former prime minister to retire from politics, since he would be beaten, in the August 8, 2017 polls.According to the Mt Kenya leaders, Uhuru was ready to prepare a hefty sendoff package for Raila, including security, and pension, since his age, allegedly does not allow him to engage in politics, or lead a country.Through his Twitter account, Khalwale who also doubles up as the Kakamega senator, slammed the Mt Kenya region leaders who are opposed to Raila presidency in 2017.He wondered why they could not support Raila, even after he supported former President Mwai Kibaki in 2002 elections.According to Khalwale, Raila supporters sticked by Kibaki, and did not ask him to retire, but rather assured he worn, and asked the Jubilee leaders to stop their 'arrogance', and respect other communities."We could have said the same of Kibaki in 2002. But we didn't! You Mt Kenya leaders, cut this arrogance and respect other Kenyan communities," said Khalwale, who seeks to unseat, ODM's incumbent governor Wycliffe Oparanya.
