Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale has sensationally claimed that the county's governor Wycliffe Oparanya is a Jubilee mole masquerading as a NASA supporter.
Speaking in Kakamega during a meeting with Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kakamega branch officials, the lawmaker accused Oparanya of funding Jubilee candidates in the Western Kenya region, with the view of weakening NASA affiliate parties including Amani National Congress and Ford Kenya..
He also cited Oparanya's conspicuous absence from NASA political campaigns in the region in June.
Khalwale warned that should NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga fail to step up to contain the situation, then the former Prime Minister is likely to lose ground.
“Oparanya is busy reducing NASA flagbearer Raila Odinga’s votes in Kakamega and Raila is sleeping on the job. He should demand an explanation from his deputy in ODM as to why he is frustrating his bid,” he said.
“We as NASA want a straight win and to take over the government so we can fulfil our manifesto to Kenyans. It is Jubilee who are wishing for a coalition government,” he added.
A close aide to Oparanya has since refuted the allegations, maintaining that the County chief is a strong supporter of NASA.
Khalwale is seeking to unseat the governor during the forthcoming general elections.
