Moments after Raila Odinga signed a secret MoU with President Uhuru Kenyatta, the two parties contemplated pulling out of NASA coalition for a new outfit.

But even before the new party that would unite the western block is cemented, Khalwale has reportedly backed Musalia Mudavadi to be party leader of the faction.

According to media reports, Khalwale, who is also serving as Moses Wetangula's deputy in Ford Kenya, insists that Mudavadi's experience will help the new party make significant milestone in Kenyan politics.

But his party Secretary General Eseli Simiyu has dismissed Khalwale's proposal adding that enough consultations are yet to be done.

"We have not effecively consulted on the merger and we should not get ahead ourselves at this early stage," he said.

Also opposing Khalwale's suggestion is Mudavadi's ANC party SG Godfrey Osostsi, who said the consultations should take place.

"We should not hurry in suggesting names. Let us first allow the process to start before deliberating in such issues."

Before joining Ford Kenya, Kwalwale was a member of Mudavadi's ANC, a party which he ditched in 2017.
