Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale is now Ford-Kenya's national deputy leader.
According to the Star, Khalwale was elected Thursday during the party’s National Executive Council at its headquarters in Nairobi.
"I thank NEC & Ford Kenya family 4 electing me today as national deputy party leader. The late Wamalwa must be happy!" said the Kakamega Senator on his twitter account.
Khalwale who quit UDF early this year has set his eyes on the Kakamega governorship where he is expected to battle it out with the incumbent Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.
During the same event, Joy Rubi was elected chairperson. She replaces Turkana Senator John Munyes who jumped ship to Jubilee Party last week.
Bungoma Senator and Cord co-principal Moses Wetangula attended the meeting.
