Ford-Kenya is now accusing Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale of pledging allegiance to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga.

This is after media reports indicated that Khalwale voted for Orange party leader to be named opposition presidential candidate in the NASA technical committee instead of fighting for their very own Moses Wetang'ula.

Ford-Kenya Kakamega county branch chairman Abel Mutimba told the People Daily that the party will meet to discuss the Senator's conduct over the allegations.

“At the moment, we still treat it as a rumour. But if indeed our representatives to the NASA National Coordination Committee voted as reported, then as a branch, where Khalwale is a senior member, will make public our position regarding his allegiance to party leader Moses Wetang’ula,” said Mutimba.

The committee which had 12 representatives drawn from ODM, Wiper, Amani National Congress and Ford-Kenya was mandated to come up with the coalition's flag bearer from party leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula.

The media has reported that Raila Odinga emerged as the favourite presidential candidate for the Opposition alliance, with Kalonzo Musyoka as his running mate.

All NASA co-principals have disowned the report, insisting that the alliance has not settled on the flag bearer to face President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August elections.
