Former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale and his Machakos counterpart Johnstone Muthama will now head a seven member committee formed to realize NASA's push for a new election.
Speaking at the Okoa Kenya offices on Friday while unveiling the committee, Khalwale said that it will further set up a national secretariat to aid the alliance's resistance wing NRM,as the opposition seeks to frustrate president Uhuru Kenyatta's leadership.
The team also includes Narok senator Ledama Ole Kina,NASA strategist David Ndii,Peter Mathuki,Mutaha Khangu,Hamida Kibwana and Judith Sijeny, with Khalwale saying that the alliance will not relent in its push for the ouster of Uhuru whom he accused of imposing an authoritarian rule on Kenyans.
“We wish to make it very clear that Kenyans cannot, and shall not, accept the blatant usurpation of power by the Jubilee administration and its determined effort to revert this great nation to an authoritarian rule, and the attendant abuse of our human rights,” he is quoted by the Citizen Digital.
Khalwale further took a swipe at the police force accusing it of using too much force while restraining opposition supporters during their memorial rally Tuesday, some of whom had lost their lives when NASA leader Raila Odinga welcome back celebrations turned chaotic.
''This unashamed abuse was plain for the entire world to see when we sought to hold a peaceful memorial service for 26 supporters who were killed by trigger happy security forces.Their only crime was to welcome our leader, Rt. Honourable, Raila Odinga upon his return from overseas engagement,” he is further quoted.
