Even after police prohibiting NASA supporters from accessing Kibera's historic Jamhuri grounds, former senators Boni Khalwale (Kakamega), Johnson Muthama (Machakos), Nairobi women rep Esther Passaris, and MP Gladys Wanga sneaked to the venue and addressed supporters.

Police had earlier arrested Embakasi MP Babu Owino and his Ruaraka counterpart TJ Kajwang and detained them while the two were on their was to the grounds.

Speaking at the rally, Khalwale said the opposition will remain relentless in their plans to give Raila Odinga a grand welcome to the country from his US tour.

He argued that police should be deployed to regulate the crowd instead of stopping Kenyans.

“Let them deploy more officers to carry out a search on us,” former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale said.

Muthama asked supporters not to be intimidated and show up at the airport in large numbers.

“We want you to turn out in large numbers at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport,” Muthama said.
