The violence erupted after police began chasing protesters who were making their way to the IEBC offices.

Senator Bonny Khalwale was leading the crowd and tried to force his way into the building.

‘‘Kenya will never be peaceful until the elections are won peacefully,’’ said Khalwale.

The senator battled with the police for a while until a second group of demonstrators showed up to fight against the group that was protesting against the IEBC. The group was led by former ODM national youth chairman, Rashid Mohammed.

An exchange of words between the two groups soon turned violent leading to the police using teargas to disperse the crowd and in all this scuffle, this is where Khalwale was arrested. This led to more rogue protests by his supporters who demanded his release.

Khalwale was then taken to court and charged of rioting after proclamation four hours later where he was released on a Sh100,000 free bond where he is required to appear in court on Tuesday and Wednesday.
