Ford Kenya Deputy Party Leader Boni Khalwale has hit out at the Jubilee government, after the County Government of Nairobi announced closure of the Uhuru Park grounds. The recreation grounds remain out of bound for members of the public following a public notice published in local dailies on January 24, 2018.“Notice is hereby given to the general public that Uhuru Park Grounds is scheduled to undergo phased improvement works in order to enhance recreational usefulness to its visitors. We apologise for any inconveniences caused,” read the public notice signed by Nairobi County Secretary Leboo Ole Morintat.Uhuru Park would play host to NASA coalition's swearing-in of Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka as president and deputy president respectively on January 30.The controversial Nairobi Business Community had said it had secured a permit to use Uhuru Park on January 30 as well for a free medical clinic targeting street children who would wish to get circumcised. However, Khalwale who is a former Kakamega senator, said the closure indicated that Jubilee administration had panicked over Odinga'$0s persistence to be sworn-in.According to him the venue was one among five NASA swearing-in venues."Was Uhuru's inauguration held at Uhuru Park? Hehe. Panick mode. Uhuru Park as said was just number 5 option. Lol," Khalwale said on Wednesday.
